DIY Dental Tricks and Tips to Try at Home

While Shark Week may be scary for some, dental problems can be even scarier! Here at Beverly Restorative and Implant Dentistry Center, we want you to have a happy, healthy smile. Most importantly, we want you to be confident when showing your pearly whites! We recommend that you visit us for any major issues, but there are plenty of things that you can do on your own to make your smile shine. Here are a few do-it-yourself tricks for you to try at home!

DIY at Home Dental Tricks and Tips

Are you on your way out and wishing you had time to whiten beforehand? No worries – bright lipstick makes your teeth appear whiter than they really are!

If you have larger spaces between your teeth, using yarn to floss can remove more plaque and bacteria. If not – don’t force it! Regular floss will work just fine for smaller spaces.

Have you ever gone to gargle only to find out that you’ve run out of mouthwash? Try this homemade recipe that works just as well: mix half water half hydrogen peroxide one drop mint extract. Mix together and it makes you an anti-gingivitis agent for a fraction of the price.

If you are experiencing any oral pain due to an open sore in your mouth, try rinsing with warm, salty water. This will help to reduce pain and speed up the healing process.

Things to Avoid

Never use any sort of sharp metal object on your teeth or gums. Not only can they cause gum irritation, they can damage the enamel on your teeth as well.

Do not use DIY teeth whitening recipes! Between harsh chemicals or damaging ingredients, DIY whitening isn’t a risk that you want to take. If you are interested in whitening, leave it to the professionals at BRAIDC!
